font-size: x-small;">Plan Out Your 3-Year Vision for Attracting Clients (and The Life You Really Want)

In practice building here in Northern New Jersey for over 18 years, it seems to be that most physicians just hope for the best. They simply keep doing what they've been doing and don't have a strategy for creating the practice they'd be truly and deeply happy with. This is a bigmistake in my opinion.

I used to write down my goals each year for my MUA practice, but it never really worked for me. I just didn't feel really excited about my new goals. They didn't seem to propel me in motion and so I kind of viewed them as being completely useless. I never really looked at them, probably because they seemed like "shoulds" rather than "really-meaningful-wants."

Then I came across the concept of creating 3-year visions

Instead of just a list of goals for the upcoming year. This visioning wasn't just about business goals, but also family, financial, spiritual, and relationship goals. It became a "holistic" way of looking at what you wanted in your life. All the pieces looked like they would work together, but only because you were compelled to make it all work together, which was the first time I'd done that in such depth.

The coolest thing about visioning 3 years out came to me after I started doing this regularly. I noticed that ONE year goals were never too much of a stretch. They seemed like pretty simple to achieve goals, goals that didn't really get me excited. But having to create a vision of what 3 years down the line would look like allowed me to REALLY think BIG and get a little crazy.

Inhibitions dropped. My creative side started going and I really took time to see, "Hey, what WOULD I want my life to look like in 3 years, if I could have time to create it?" BAMM! I felt like I'd hit the jackpot.

The 3-year vision was a way for me to create something to strive for that REALLY spoke to me. Something that made my heart beat a little faster after I read it, excited to get going, and just a little bit scared of the thought of me reaching it. In fact if your not scared then that's telling you that it's not a big enough goal.

Now THAT would propel me into motion the way a yearly list of goals wouldn't be able to do. (By the way, my deep down secret is that I strive to reach these in 1 or 2 years, not 3, and that's usually what happens.)

So, each year, around this time, I create a 3-year vision of what I want my practice to look like. I write it in the present tense, as if it were 3 years later, that same day. For example, this past year I wrote mine on January 4, 2009 as if it was January 4, 2012, and I talked about all the things that had happened since 2009. All the things I'd accomplished in my practice and my business's, with my finances, my investments, my family, and myself over the "last 3 years," which obviously hadn't actually happened yet.

This was a pretty cool exercise and it really got my latin blood flowing when I read it back to myself, now and over the year.

"When you can clearly see yourself being there, you can see much more clearly how to get there. You can imagine the path to your dreams, and then start to actually walk it. Play an active role in your own future. Imagine with passion and detail how you'd most like it to be."
-Ralph Marston, http://greatday.com

You see, I've figured out that it's not just about goals. Yes, goals are important, but the way I look at it, it's about focusing on what you REALLY want for your life, not the "shoulds." It's also about putting into effect the Law of Attraction in a big way. When you know what you want for your life, when you can imagine it with passion and feel what it feels like to have it, it's almost guaranteed to come to you.

So, this weekend yes I am a little bit behind my normal schedule... But I'll be taking a couple of hours to work on my own 3-year vision. I wouldn't dream of not doing it. My success depends on it and it does for you too.

Your Assignment if You Decide To Accept It:

Sometime this week, create a 3-year vision dated January 10, 2013. Your 3-year vision must be one that will literally PULL you into your future, will scare you just a little bit, and make your heart beat a little faster than normal whenever you read this.

Make your 3-year vision very specific, realistic, and a big STRETCH (that's what's going to move you forward quicker than you would if you didn't have it). If you're right brained, use bullet points for categories such as business, finances, personal, family, spiritual, fun, health, etc. If you're left-brained, then write freely, and remember to keep it all grounded in the specific, with lots of MEASURABLES and TANGIBLES thrown in there so you can keep track of your progress over the next 3 years (that's what I do).

Be sure to write in the present tense as if it were 3 years from now... If it doesn't scare you just a little bit or get your mind racing, then it's probably not enough of a stretch. By the way, I just looked back to last year's 3-year vision and I was SHOCKED to see how many of the goals in my 3-year vision I'd already achieved in just a little over a year. This stuff really works and it's pretty amazing!!

Once you've done your 3-year vision and are ready to change your practie ( and possibly incorporate Manipulation Under Anesthesia) and get marketing in a big way for 2010, invest in your success by getting yourself to one of my MUA Mastery courses or sign up for some consulting . You are a jack-of-all-trades: running the back office, fixing the computer, answering the phone, running to staples, and, of course, doing the work that actually earns you revenue. It's easy to get so wrapped up in administrative tasks that it becomes difficult to grow the business without working longer and longer hours to keep up with paperwork and other demands.

Here's how you can keep control of your time and make sure that you're earning what you're worth.

1. Calculate your real hourly rate. Once you add up the number of hours you're working, including core business tasks as well business-related items like invoicing and answering phones, you may be surprised to learn that you're wasting time and money on less important tasks. Say you earn $200/hour for your time with patients (and I would hope that it is more), but then you spend two hours of your own business time on non-essential tasks like unjamming your printer or organizing your receipts from the last quarter. Wow! You've just spent $200 on tasks that many chiropractic assistants could do for $15/hour. You want to be working on your practice rather than in it.

2. List the extraneous tasks. Make a list of all of the extra tasks you perform in the course of a month that don't directly relate to your core business. This could include accounting, cleaning, ordering supplies, filing, marketing, public relations, search engine optimization, and anything else that takes up your valuable time.

3. Hire help. Outsourcing isn't just for huge multi-national corporations. It's a must for solo doctors and all small businesses, because it frees you up to focus on your practice. You might ask other local businesses who they use or go online and search the portfolios of creative and technical professionals on sites like guru.com and elance.com, or freelance.com. Hiring a virtual assistant (the same way I hire many of my assistants) (VA) is another option. VAs work remotely and handle many different tasks including scheduling, bill paying, and research. Look for a VA on assistu.com or ivaa.com.

4. Always try to Delegate as much as you can. Many solo doctors, are reluctant to let go of tasks that they once performed themselves. They worry that other people will not perform those tasks with the same level of attention, but it's actually better to have someone who is trained in that area rather than trying to do everything yourself. Get yourself out of the loop and it will save you money in the process.

5. Jump back in the driver's seat! Time is the most important asset you have. Unlike money, you can't earn more once you've used it up. Managing your time efficiently helps ensure that your business succeeds. Put all non-essential tasks in the hands of others so you'll never to worry about burning the midnight oil to get everything done. Now that you know exactly what your time is worth, jump back in the driver's seat of your business and do what you wanted to do all along - work less and earn more money.

NEW JERSEY PIP FEE LAWS UPDATE

NEW JERSEY PIP FEE LAWS UPDATE

Our collective efforts delayed the implementation of the new PIP Fee Schedule down in Trenton for more than 3 ½ years. However, today the Supreme Court of New Jersey declined to hear our appeal of the Appellate Division's August decision to uphold the NJ PIP Fee Schedule. The litigation component of this battle is over. The war to reverse this injustice to the manipulation under anesthesia procedure and other procedures continues in the Legislature.

You may recall that we started fighting this fight at the agency level during the summer of 2005 in New Jersey. DOBI wanted to set fees across the board at 115% of Medicare and to have these rates in place by January 1, 2006. Due to our vigorous lobbying efforts, the New Jersey physician fees were increased to generally 130% of Medicare, with many adjustments in the 130% to 800% of Medicare range, and ASC fees were increased to approximately 325% of Medicare by the time DOBI proposed the rule in 2007.

When DOBI adopted the proposal, we obtained a stay from the Appellate Division on behalf of our clients the Alliance for Quality Care, the Orthopedic Surgeons of New Jersey, the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, the New Jersey Interventional Pain Society, Atlantic Orthopedic Associates, the Medical Society of New Jersey, the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers and the New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists. The stay prevented the PIP Fee Schedule from becoming effective during the two years we litigated before the Appellate Division and thus not changing the manipulation under anesthesia reimbursement rates

We are aggressively pursuing corrective legislation. We have significant support for a bill that would require the PIP Fee Schedule to be based on actual amounts paid by PIP carriers to medical providers, as opposed to the hodge-podge of data upon which DOBI allegedly relied. The bill would require the new fee schedule to be based on paid fee data from 2007 -- rates in place before the current fee schedule went into effect and keeping the MUA payments the same.

MUA Medicare Situation

I have recently been informed of important Medicare information that may restrict chiropractors from performing MUAs now and in the future...

We have been working night and day with healthcare attorneys as well as other leading figures in the MUA field to find the best resolution to this extremely important information. It is essential that everyone involved in the MUA field act now as one voice! This is the only way that we will be able to fight and make sure that this technique and our practices, which helps thousands of people, is not taken away from the people that should be performing this procedure.

I believe that by uniting chiropractors from across the country we will be able to make a difference in this potentially horrible situation for anyone performing MUAs. This is the time of year I absolutely love because the weather here in NJ is as close to incredible as we will ever see.

It's 80 degrees sunny and slight breezy and all you can smell in my town are the coal and gas burning BBQ's cooking morning noon and night.

As you can see from the photo of my neighbor on the right some people here in NJ take their grilling to the extreme!

I just recently finished a crazy schedule of classes travelling from Ohio to Florida. So these few days of rest at my retreat in the Pocono's will surely be well deserved. What's great about being able to relax for a few days isn't just the fine cuban cigars and the aged rum that I keep in my wine cellar in my cellar, it's that I can also get more focused on what I need to do and concentrate on some ideas that I've had stirring in my mind during my travels.

But before I go on and let you in on them, let me remind you that ideas can actually do more good than harm. Ideas almost destroyed me. They did.

I used to think ideas were the greatest thing in the world. Back when I first started my journey as a chiropractor, I would have a new idea on a Monday, tell a few people. Thursday, another idea would come to me. A week later I came up with the 'greatest idea ever' in the shower and told a few more people. And on and on and on.

Are you getting the picture... Sound like someone you know...

Ideas were coming to me in an avalanche (and they still do) that I became the
most scattered person on the planet. Completely scattered. I was caught in the claws of what I call the 'Idea Avalanche'.

The 'Idea Avalanche' is the chiropractor's curse...

You have so many ideas and then you look back years later and you've accomplished next to nothing. What a waste. I wasted so much time. But ideas are neutral. They can be good or bad. They are what you make of them only.

What raised me from failure to success wasn't tons of ideas, it was discovering how to focus and concentrate. This wasn't easy for me. I see so many doctors getting beat up from a lack of focus. They follow the 'latest, greatest, gimmick' and their
progress is in cement. It doesn't move. You, me, us, we're better then that. Much better.

Find your focus. Take one step at a time. Just one. You can do it. You know you can.
Stop being busy. Start being a productive chiropractor. You can do it.

The cure for the idea avalanche is to make a CONSCIOUS attempt to bring 1% more focus and concentration into your life daily.

My fellow student of life, colleague and friend, I see you developing the skill of laser like focus.

I see you becoming an individual, a doctor who can accomplish anything you want with the power of focused concentration.

Start now.

Until next time. HAVE A GREAT MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!

Get Paid What You're Worth

Dr. Tirado
www.drtirado.com

Q&A My Surgical Center Shut Down The MUA Program

Dr. Tirado they just did away with my MUA program in our Surgical Center What do I do Now?

Dear Doctor Tirado,

My surgical center just did away with our MUA program. When asked they told me that the American Society of Anesthesia frowned upon the MUA procedure. What should I do now.

Dr. Worried in Missouri,

Dear Dr. Worried,

I think the first thing to do would be to find out what's really going on here.

Yes, approximately 4-6 years ago the ASAHQ did issue a report that they were not in favor of chiropractors performing MUA. However this was only an opinion not a general consensus. This by no means discontinued the majority of surgical centers and anesthesiologist (who rely on this procedure as a large source of their income) throughout the county from performing and being involved in MUA procedures.

If your surgical center came to you and brought this to your attention. Then why not ask them if it applies to other doctors such as Orthopods and Physiatrist, Oral Surgeons as well as Osteopaths. MUA of shoulder, knee, TMJ,wrist, shoulder etc... are all performed by these specialties. In fact MUA of the extremity is typically billed out and performed in conjunction with most arthroscopy's and laminectomys.

So If it's an across the board decision then I"m afraid you'll just have to suck it up, move on and consider it their loss and find another surgical center. If it's a surgical center in which you have a financial investor interest in then you should consult your attorney. However, if it's just a decision to ban you because your a chiropractor (which may be happening) from performing procedures in the facility... then challenge the decision if you feel strong enough that it's worth defending and consult with the administrator. If not then consider it their loss of income and move on to another surgical center that appreciates your business

I hope this helps.

Get Paid What You're Worth

Dr. Jason Tirado
www.drtirado.com

5 Steps to Thinking Big and Raising Your Income?

5 Steps to Thinking Big and Raising Your Income?

Dear Doctor,

by Dr. Jason Tirado

I know what it's like to think that the lifestyle I want is out of reach. Just 15 years ago, I would lie on my bed in my tiny 400-square-foot studio apartment in Union City New Jersey and flip through Robb Report magazine, wishing I could have the luxurious lifestyles I read about.

Despite that negative, nagging voice in my head that reminded me I could barely afford rent, or buy those Air Jordans that were in style, I'm now living a beautiful life I created for myself from scratch. Instead of moping around an apartment I can barely afford, I now have the means to travel and to teach and inspire others.

How'd I do it? By deciding finally to think outside the box, not let my philosophy prevent me from making a good living, not to settle for being average and thinking BIG. Changing your mindset can be a challenge, but the rewards are well worth the cost. Here's how you can get started...

1. Eliminate negativity. This includes the negative drama that you get yourself rapped up in when talking to friends as well as the negative self-talk, too. Why would the universe bring you a better life if you don't appreciate what you already have? Show gratitude for everything in your life now. Those seemingly bad days that you have in your office happen for a reason, so whenever you find yourself thinking, "I can't do this" or "that's impossible,", "I can't make a living as a chiropractor", reframe it as the opposite. "I can do that, that is possible...", "there's plenty of opportunity in chiropractic". You owe it to yourself to give yourself the love and support you need to succeed.

2. Document your dreams. Earlier this year, I wanted to manifest starting my MUA Mastery Course in four states and a new house, so I listed all the states I wanted to teach in as well as all of the qualities in my dream home: a 3-car garage, workout room, walk-in closets, with space in the backyard to put a tenns court... (Don't censor yourself! Anything is possible, even if it seems crazy now.) I also bought some real estate magazines, cut out pictures of homes I love, and created a collage on my refrigerator. My kids thought I was crazy at first but then they joined in. I'm constantly updating my "dream board," and as you can see by the calendar below that I am now teaching in four states with the fifth one on the way and I am negotiating with my realtor on the house I've always dreamed of.

3. Surround yourself ONLY with supportive people and get rid of the dead weight around you that is always bringing you down. You know those people... they never have anything good to say and to them the recession will last forever. I only shared business dreams as well as my house dream with friends and family I knew would support my decision. (NOT those prone to phrases like "Are you crazy? Who do you think you are? Donald Trump?") Your true friends and family will be happy to share in your dream. If you don't have anyone else to support you, then it's time to make new friends - join a networking group or a mastermind.

4. Decide, believe, and watch for clues. Most importantly...It's not enough to make a decision to work towards your dreams. You must also truly believe in them! Don't worry about HOW your dreams will manifest themselves. Watch for clues, and the HOW will find you, perhaps in the form of a new business partner or a new client. But remember that the dream comes before the HOW.

5. ACT on opportunities when they appear. Action involves risk. You might have to hire more people to help with a new opportunity that pops up. You'll need time to research that prospective business partner. Or figure out how to find the money to hire that amazing new mentor. But it's up to YOU to take action when the path is revealed. The universe is supporting you, and each step will bring you closer to your dreams.

Get Paid What You're Worth

Dr. Jason Tirado
www.drtirado.com

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

Hello Doctor,

This past weekend while I was hiking in the Oritani Mountains of New Jersey I took some time to think about how I have grown over the years and how my business has grown as well. And there was one underlying concept that has been responsible for the majority of my growth and success in business.

Let me say this. This concept took me a while to really 'get'.

Honestly It did.

Many people devalue their God given gifts.
Many people under appreciate their worth.
Many people laugh off their natural strengths.
Many people have a tough time taking in appreciation.

Many people take lightly their assignment in life.

You see, we were all born to solve a problem. Dentists solve teeth problems.
Phones solve communication problems. Cars solve transportation problems.

We forgot how important we really are to SOMEONE, somewhere.

"Dr. Tirado, what do you mean?"

We were born to be a reward and blessing for a person or group of people.
Look around you, everything was created to solve a problem. You get RICH, both personally and financially when you solve problems for people. You see, every generation needs its great entrepreneurs, its great athletes, its authors, and its role models.

If you look at 25-50 year periods of times, each generation has its OWN STARS.
Today we have Steve Jobs, Oprah, Spielberg, Tiger, and others. 50 years ago, there were other names.
You were born to be a STAR in this generation. You really were. I think you know it but somewhere down the line you gave up believing it.

Maybe it's in your business, or a great mom or dad, being a great listener, there's some PROBLEM you were born to solve. There's somebody who needs you right now. There is. There's somebody you can bring joy to.

The question is...Will you be there for them?

The problem you were born to solve in life isn't so much a 'creation', as it's a discovery... Your discovery.

Many times your gifts are so close to you, you undervalue them and can barely see them when they are right in front of you. What do you love doing? Where are you naturally strong? (writing, reading, listening, speaking, teaching, leading, etc...)

What bothers you?

We must -correct the injustice- of people spending their lives doing work in which they devalue themselves and ultimately, they can't stand. This kind of work helps nobody. It hurts them, their family, and those they were born to help. Be the reward you were born to be.

Add 1% more enthusiasm to your life.

Your gifts, talents, and abilities were given to you for a reason. Use them.
Love yourself. Serve others. Create value for others by creating more value for yourself. Get rich, financially and personally.

Great things usually take time. Go slow to go fast and have patience.

Somebody is hurting today. Somebody needs you today. Awaken to this idea.
You can and WILL make somebody's day. Focus on bringing more purpose and meaning to your life and to your practice.

In his book Think and Grow Rich...Napoleon Hill says "The fastest way to get what you want is to help someone else get what they want."

Be a problem solver for someone. This is your ticket to great riches. Doctor the thousands of people reading this right now believe in you. Just like you believe in their abilities, they believe in yours. I remember when I started this newsletter years ago people didn't believe in me. However over time as I helped people get what they wanted out of their lives and practice they began to believe in me as well.

We were ALL born for greatness. Start seeing that in others and they'll start acknowledging it in you.

As a group, we're much more powerful together than as individuals.
Believe in someone else's greatness today and of course...

Get Paid What You're Worth

Dr. Tirado
www.drtirado.com

They Want The Money Back!

They Want The Money Back What Do I Do?

Dear Dr. Tirado,

I used to do my MUA's in what was a busy South Florida Surgery Center, where the MD billed for procedures that I didn't know were being done. After BCBS performed their investigations they determined that this Center had to pay back the money they paid to the center. Because they were out of network, my patient received the check for over 28k and handed it over to the surgery center.

Now BCBS wants the money back and they are asking my patient for it. BCBS has already said they would drop the patients converage if the patient didn't pay the money back and has even threatened legal action.

My patient came to me asking what they should do, and after calling the surgery center themselves to collect the money they were unsuccessful. "I assume the surgical center has spent the money already."

What should I do for them?

Confused...

Well Dr. Confused,

If you think that the surgery center is about to pay back the money to the patient...think again...

Many of the centers that aren't willing to support their doctors or show supporting documentation during an investigation are probably looking to open centers in other states right about now and duplicate the same ponzi scheme hurting many many more doctors and patients alike.

At this point you can contact the principles of the surgery center and try your best to negotiate some type of settlement, and or payback schedule on behalf of the patient. I find if they are a center that is based on honesty, integrity and keeping the doctors and patients best interest in mind, you'll probably be able to work something out.

However this isn't always the case. Unfortunately the center has placed you in a very precarious position as the middle man and this might result in a complaint to your board if you neglect the situation completely.

It may appear that you don't really have any legal obligation to the patient, but I would consult with your health care attorney to determine the extent of your responsibility. Most important here is to maintain an open communication line with your patient and try to be there when they tend to have questions regarding the center and your role.

Aside from that there really isn't much more you can do...

Won't doctors ever learn...

What really amazes me most here is that although these centers are being investigated, audited, sued, litigated, bill unreasonable fees, jumping ship to other states, these same doctors continue to perform procedures at these types of facilities thinking that the centers will change.

Doctors, if your only criteria for doing procedures in a center is "can I get paid" ...don't be surprised when you receive your subpoena to testify as a witness in a federal investigation.

Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me...

Doctors, bottom line here is that we need to be more empowered and show more awareness in the MUA arena. Ask questions regarding the procedure on behalf of your patients and yourself. Find out about fees. Ask the surgery center questions like... "what takes place if the insurance company asks for money back from the patient", "what happens with co-pays, and deductibles", "what if none of the procedure isn't covered", "what are your normal fees for the procedure".

MUA doctors, contact the doctors that taught you the procedures and ask them what other types of problems might you experience in the MUA arena. What problems might they experience with surgical centers. Get them on the phone and ask them for help and answers in situations like this.

But most of all always follow your heart and do what is right for the patient.

Get Paid What You're Worth

Dr. Jason Tirado
www.drtirado.com

Who Are You Learning From Nowadays!

Who Are You Learning From?

"What Really Makes Me MAD!"

by Dr. Jason Tirado
(Originally written in 2007)

You know what really makes me MAD?

When I see someone acting like a bigshot with no substance behind them, asking you to pay them handsomely to teach you something that they themselves have NEVER done.

Let me explain...

I recently received a fax advertisement announcing a very expensive MUA workshop that claims to certify you in two weekends promising to build your practice, get more MD referrals, get more patients, and so on,(and you had to bring in two patients of your own).

Now most of that is fine...

Here's the part that gets my goat...

I happen to know that the person teaching this workshop hasn't had a practice much less an MUA practice in over 15 years!!! And has absolutely NO present day experience with talking to his own patients about the MUA procedure! In fact some of these so called MUA gurus don't even teach the class!! They hire someone else.

It just makes me ill.

There are many of these self proclaimed "gurus" out there. True, some have indeed performed the procedure, written books, taught many classes and lectured (That's not hard to do either.) But how many of their own MUA cases do they actually do day in and day out and every month presently? Do they really have an MUA practice? How much money are they making actually comes from doing MUA's? And are they working their tail off, or have they really created a great lifestyle for themselves from developing an MUA practice or is the great lifestyle created from giving courses and people taking their class?

Now, I know it's hard to tell sometimes who to trust and follow. Some of these 'gurus' talk a great talk using excellent stories, and persuasion tactics. How do you know who is the REAL deal, and who's "full of it"?

Asking a few questions will help you. Here are five questions you should ask before investing heavily in anyone's products, programs, coaching, or workshops:

1. Have they DONE what they are teaching?

There are some people out there who are good "reporters" - that is, who collect information and share it - who you can learn from. There is certainly a place for these people and these folks are good if you're doing baseline research on the topic. But if you are really looking to learn the systems and strategies that can change your life and practice, and how to apply them successfully, quickly, safely to your patients and be paid for your services from insurance companies, then you absolutely want to make sure you learn from someone who has done exactly that. This guarantees a much higher success rate on your end.

2. Are they STILL in practice or are they just teaching?

It's no secret that anyone can make a lot more money TEACHING what they know than just doing what they know. Many "gurus" enjoyed success in the 80's and 90's and have been riding those coat-tails for years, teaching how they did it over and over. Just because someone had success two decades ago in practice at one time doesn't mean they know the best and easiest way to do that TODAY. Things have changed dramatically and insurance reimbursement and technique is different today. It's crucial you learn from someone who is still "in the trenches", continually learning and keeping up to date with the fastest and easiest ways to do what you want to learn.

3. Are they doing it SUCCESSFULLY?

This may seem like a given, but it amazes me how many people invest money in learning from people who aren't that successful in what they do. Make sure to sniff around and truly make sure that this person not only does what they say they can teach you, but that they are outrageously good at it.

I routinely encourage doctors to pass by my office and see how a million dollar operation works and continues to work with me there or with me not there while I'm on the road teaching. Why? Because I want my doctors to duplicate a proven model that works. And because I want them to be successful treating their patients and in their practice as well.

4. Will they show you PROOF that what they teach actually works?

If your prospective mentor won't share numbers with you, or claims it's not your business, or it's illegal, or talk to you about insurance reimbursement or provide you with copies of their own, move on. It's likely they are not walking their talk. I'm open with my numbers because I want people to know I'm the real deal!

For example, I have shared actual payments (with names and id numbers blacked out of course to avoid HIPPA problems) at all of my seminars. Why? I feel anyone who is about to invest several thousand dollars to learn from me, and change their practice, deserves to see proof that I do what I teach and what I'm teaching actually works.

5. Are they doing it in a MANNER that suits what you want for you and your business?

This isn't talked about often, but you want to learn from a mentor who also works in a manner that fits your business vision. For example, one client shared that she chose to learn from me instead of another MUA teacher "mentor" solely because she knew I had an MUA practice of my own, and loved my business approach. She admittedly works 16-hour days and hasn't taken a vacation in years. (Apparently my relaxed and fun work-style was a lot more appealing to her.)

Another example: I'm sure you've seen some "gurus" out there whose marketing methods are questionable and/or simply obnoxious, and that may not fit your style. They telemarket you at your office until you simply just hang up on them. If you want your business to be ethical, easy, and fun, then look for a mentor who is running his/her business that exact same way.

Once You Find Your Mentor, Stick With 'Em!

Once you choose the mentor and business model that's right for you, STOP paying attention to anyone else for awhile!

Why?

The #1 enemy of any chiropractor is DISTRACTION. It's easy to jump around and get excited about the next big thing every few weeks, but your easiest road to success is to choose ONE mentor/model and commit to follow them for at least six months. I guarantee you'll move ahead a lot faster and more easily!

Get Paid What You're Worth

Dr. Jason Tirado
www.drtirado.com

Dr Tirado For President

In response to incredible disappointment and controversy with our presidential candidates. I have to say this is probably the BEST group I ever had! They were truly amazing doctors and entrepreneurs. We held the program at the beautiful Holiday Inn and for three full days we performed over 30 MUA procedures and learned my insider secrets to giving the best care possible and how to get paid for it

There were some amazing breakthroughs during our three-day class, and it was SO much fun to help my docs realize the potential of their businesses -- many of them are sitting on a million-dollar goldmine! It often takes a coach or other objective party to help a solo-doctor see the birds-eye view of their practice, and how often making a few small shifts is all they need to see their practice skyrocket without much effort.Working with my doctors is one of the most rewarding things I do in my business.

Dr. Tirado's MUA School is a well rounded education process. He teaches you safe and proper techniques in order to protect the patient as well as the doctor from injury, which is extremely important for everyone involved. Once you leave the operating room behind and get to the class room you learn the correct billing processes and legalities of MUA. He and his staff are there helping you at every phase while you are learning. They all take the time to answer any of your questions. Upon completion of the course, he also makes himself as well as his staff available to you as questions arise while you take on your first few MUA cases. I highly recommend this course. Dr. Simone.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Thanks Dr. Simone: I hope I got your good side!

As always we had over 15 doctors apply for our MUA Mastery Certification course and as you know I like to keep my classes small so I can give you all of my personal attention, one of the hardest things for me to always do is to narrow my groups down to just a handful of doctors. While I could have easily been like the other MUA certification courses out there and filled my class with over 10 people, I made the conscious decision to keep them small and private so I can focus on the individual doctor.

As most of you know I'm working LESS this year and taking less calls so I can spend more time giving my platinum members my personal attention and help explode their practices : )My Platinums are the ONLY doctors who get my one-on-one help, as I do not do any more phone consulting at all. (However I do answer my emails and still do in-person VIP Consulting Days at $12,000 per day. Application and interview required. For more info write my personal assistant Ana at ana1624@optonline.net) Now, I'm off to Popano Beach Florida, where it's 84 degrees, for the next week where I have my beach condo, this is where I can sit back smoke a cigar sip on some aged rum and recharge my batteries while watching the waves crashing on the beach.

Until next time.

Dr. T

Don't Let Your MUA Certification Sit On The Wall!

First and Foremost I want to congratulate you on completing your MUA certification! You now have in your hand a certificate and a technique that will truly revolutionize your practice and your life!

For those of you that know me... I truly believe this because it has for me. MUA's have allowed me to stop working the grind in my practice to working with virtually no overhead three days a week for only a few hours foing MUA's.

However, I have a confession to make... Starting something new really sucks sometimes. Yup. Plain and simple I'm impatient and when I see something I want, I don't want to have to go through the growing pains of getting it to where I want.

I don't know if you guys Can you relate to that?

For example, to some of you I may be the new guy in this world of MUA even though I have been around for a for quite sometime. I started my career teaching MUA a few years ago and some people would say that I've enjoyed a fair amount of success in such a short period.

I would agree and I'm very happy with the progress that I've made.
However, being surrounded with Uber successful guys in the MUA field and Pain management field I see that I have a long way to go.
I know for a fact that some of the doctors that I hang out with make hundreds of thousands of dollars a month on complete autopilot and their patient base only grows every year.
In addition I've enjoyed watching how they run their business and how they implement their ideas with all kinds of success. Now the key word there is IMPLEMENT!!
It didn't take me long before I learned one of the most valuable lessons of my career. You should memorize this because it will help you get more done, faster and you'll be up and making money quicker and easier.

Here it is. Write this down.

"You Don't Have To Get It Right,You Just Have To Get It Going."

Success in life is nothing more than a series of small wins. However most people try to tackle a HUGE project or idea and they get so overwhelmed that they never even begin.
Think about it...

Bill Gates didn't create Windows XP before he created Windows 2000, or Windows 95 or even Windows 3.1. But let me ask you a question...
Do you think he would have the market dominance he has if he had waited until he had completed Windows XP?
NO way.

All he did was get going. I guarantee you many of the ideas he had in the later versions of Windows were initially dreamed of when he first created Windows 3.1 but he didn't wait for it to be absolutely perfect.

He just got going.

This lesson REALLY hit home three months ago when I finally applied what I had learned from my "Inner Circle of Successful Doctors".

A few years back I signed up to be a part of a $28,000.00 marketing group. My thought process was that the cost of $28,000.00 was insignificant if I could learn the process of turning my ideas into huge profit centers. I was looking for someone to give me a swift kick in the butt and help keep me focused, accountable and on track.
At the time I believed there was noone better than these two individuals. I had personally seen the success of their students first hand so I knew what they taught worked. The question is would I let it work for me?

Well, human nature took over and although the information I was learning was GREAT, I wasn't applying it.
Has that ever happened to you?
I was getting frustrated. I was getting discouraged and I hate to admit this but I even had thoughts of completely giving up.

Crazy eh?

So, I sat back and started asking myself questions. I was looking for answers as to why these doctors (who were people just like me) just kept on experiencing tremendous success, project after project, and why I was struggling to get my projects up, completed and having success.
Through this reflection I saw something that was holding me back. Perhaps you've experienced this yourself.

Here is the problem:
I was trying to tackle the whole project all at once instead of breaking it down into bite size pieces. This resulted in me getting irritated, overwhelmed and disheartened.
Then within the exact same week one of my mentors said something to me that changed everything for me.

They said:
Jason... "Stop Everything You Are Doing And Go After The Low Hanging Fruit"

I gained tremendous insight from that one conversation. Let me explain.
In a nutshell, I was making it too hard on myself. I was going after the project that cost the most amount of money, needed the most amount of my time and it was draining me mentally, physically and financially. I was starting off by trying to climb the biggest mountain right out the gates.
What I needed was to go after the low hanging fruit and get some of the easier projects completed, and making money. When you do this, guess what happens?

You Build Momentum

***** ALERT *****

Read that last sentence again. Write it down somewhere you can see it everyday. This will become one of the most important principles you will ever learn.
THIS PRINCIPLE HAS SINGLE HANDEDLY CHANGED MY FINANCIAL FUTURE.

That's how much I believe in what I am saying right now.

Please do not mistake momentum with more ideas. I used to, and in hindsight this was something that was holding me back. Shortly after my conversation with this doctor I had another "breakthrough conversation" with him.

Every month I have the privilege of masterminding with some of the most successful doctors in the MUA world. So I regularly take advantage of my opportunity to tap into their marketing wisdom.

At this particular training I was really excited because I wanted to show these guys some of my new ideas.

Here's the play-by-play of what happened. I remember it so clearly.

I proudly opened my laptop, where I had brainstormed all kinds of new product and business ideas.
With passion and excitement I enthusiastically began to tell him what I was planning on doing. Then he did something I will never forget.
He grabbed my computer and turned it off.
I was dumbfounded. Was he kidding or was this some kind of lesson?

Here is what he said:

"Stop Generating New Ideas And Start Implementing The Ones You Have!!"

Talk about a wake up call!!
Generating ideas was my form of procrastination. That was a "light bulb moment". I wasn't getting any of my ideas completed because every time I came across an obstacle I would stop what I was doing and start brainstorming on something completely different and unrelated.
Can you relate to that?

So let me ask you a question...

What form of procrastination is preventing you from getting your projects completed?
He then continued to make his point by making another demonstration. He opened his computer and logged on to the internet and took me to several of his websites where he has successful businesses and products available for sale. Then he said "I want to buy or sign up for whatever you have for sale. Take me to your website".

Guess what?
I didn't have one.
I only had two explanations why - I didn't have any completed projects.

Duhhh!!

You Can't Make Money Or be Successful Until You Launch Your Projects!

He hit me square between the eyes by showing me what I was doing to sabotage my success. His outside perspective seems so obvious in hindsight but I can honestly say that without it I wouldn't have made the $111,000+ I did on my most recent project.

Completed projects can do wonders for you and your business because they BUILD MOMENTUM.

You can't build a BIG snowman until you create a snowball and get it rolling. The same principle applies to your own life and your own MUA Business. You can't make $1,000,000 until you make $100,000. Similarly you can't make $100,000 until you make $10,000 and you can't make $10,000 until you make $1,000.

So often we are trying to go for the million dollars right out of the gates and we get disappointed and frustrated when it doesn't happen.
Just get your projects completed and available for someone to buy!!
I can't tell you the thrill I experienced when I completed my first ever MUA infomercial and got my first patients. It was completely automated. Completely hands free once I set it up.
Do you want to know how many patients came from my infomercial?

15 New Patients wanting MUA's for their Back Pain!

My infomercial is still running on autopilot and I haven't done anything after I initially set it all up.

Focus on getting your projects completed and start building your momentum. Momentum helps you get over those humps and helps you achieve success much much faster.

When you have success, your confidence grows.
When you have success, your excitement grows.
When you have success, you have cash to fund future projects.
When you have success, you have money to pay vendors to get other projects completed FASTER.

When you have success, you have people wanting to do additional projects with you.
This is all built on one principle. MOMENTUM.

When my Inner Circle of Doctors helped me to understand what my low hanging fruit was I immediately took action and created over $111,000 within an 8 week period on just one of my projects.

The success of that one venture opened up many opportunities for me and two weeks later at another event I had SEVERAL high profile people approach me wanting to do various projects together.
The only reason that happened was because I experienced tremendous success with my previous project. I discovered this - people want to work with movers, shakers and successful people. People who are doing things.
Momentum brings a tremendous amount of benefits to you and the more you take purposeful action to build that momentum the more benefits you will enjoy.

Takeaways and Lessons To Be Learned

1) Discover Your Low Hanging Fruit. Don't be afraid to put those big hairy projects on the backburner while you pick up speed with some smaller projects that bring in some cash flow and success. Ask yourself if the project you are working on right now has the biggest payoff - financially and mentally.
Don't get bogged down chasing "the big payday". Go after the projects that you can start making money with right now. When you start earning money with your ideas, you start building momentum. Momentum carries you forward and helps you blast through any obstacles that get in your way.

2) Follow Through and Complete Your Projects. You can't make money or have success on "projects in progress". The real success is made after you complete your projects and get them out there for the world to buy.

What projects do you have right now that are half complete?
What do you need to do to finish what you started?
What form of procrastination is holding you back?
Focus on completion. New ideas will always present themselves but the only way to make money as an idea person is to take your ideas from concept to completion, and eventually to cash, as quickly as possible. When that happens, then you move on to the next idea.

3) Nothing Beats The Advice From A Wise Mentor. I needed that outside perspective to put me back on track. I needed that kick in the rear to get me in gear :)
My Inner Circle of Successful Doctors have been those individuals who have provided me with the advice that I've needed and they delivered it when I needed it most.

That's where the value of a mentor really comes into play. They look at things from a different perspective and then leverage that perspective with their expertise.

******************IMPORTANT NOTE******************

I struggled in the beginning because I was trying to learn from everybody. I literally purchased educational materials from 15-20 different people and I was trying to implement everything they all taught.

It didn't work!!
The moment I decided to focus my attention on My Inner Circle of Successful Doctors and what they were saying my progress improved.

My advice is pick 1-3 mentors you most enjoy learning from and start implementing what they teach. Don't get caught in the trap of learning a bit from one person, some more from another and even more from someone else. It's difficult to learn that way and it's even tougher to make substantial progress.

**************************************************

However, anything you learn from a mentor is worthless if you don't apply what you learn.
You've got to implement if you want to bear the fruits of your ideas. Without taking action and completing your projects... NOTHING HAPPENS!!
Complete projects, have success, make money and build your momentum.

******************************

I hope you enjoyed this month's MUA Success Journal because I certainly enjoyed writing it. The last two months have taught me a tremendous amount of information about building a business and my focus has shifted to the power of building momentum.

Let me know if there are any specific things you would like me to cover in some of the upcoming issues.
